About
I am a writer and director from the South-West, raised on the Rame Peninsula in Cornwall, opposite Plymouth. Growing up between the rugged coastline of Rame and the post-war streets of Plymouth shaped the worlds I create: spaces that feel overlooked, resilient, and hauntingly beautiful, inhabited by characters navigating the complexities of contemporary life.
I studied Creative Media Production at Arts University Plymouth before moving to Bristol to pursue filmmaking. I graduated from UWE Bristol in 2023, where I wrote and directed my short film Skive, which won multiple awards at film festivals across the UK and internationally, including the RTS National Award for Best Undergraduate Drama 2024, Clapham International Film Festival ‘Best Emerging Talent’ and Ealing Film Festival ‘People’s Choice Awards’.
Following this I was awarded a scholarship to complete the NFTS six-month screenwriting course, mentored by Paul Fraser. Here I developed the first draft of my debut feature, exploring intergenerational female connection as a source of survival set against the backdrop of a forgotten South-West town.
My work is driven by a desire to tell vibrant, defiant stories of our time - films that are gritty yet vibrant, blending social realism with magical realism, humour, and defiance. I am passionate about giving voice to marginalised characters and working-class experiences, capturing fleeting moments of connection and transcendence amid the chaos of our current time.
Influenced by UK underground music and rave cultures, my films draw on these worlds not just as settings, but as languages of emotional release, community, and rebellion. I aim to make work that is unflinching, human, and celebratory - of joy that exists in spite of the struggle.
